Sketch Session: Facial Expressions 10/16/14

For our 30 minute sketching session, we drew different facial expressions to help us with our fairy tale character illustration project. I think capturing the right facial expression helps to tell a story without using any words. I noticed while looking at the pictures provided on screen in class that eyebrows are very important in describing what a person is feeling whether they are happy, mad, depressed etc. Mouths/Teeth as well as the direction the eyes are looking are important as well. I also noticed, creases, wrinkles, and dimples can add to an expression as well. Facial expressions will definitely help with the next project as they will show whether our characters are protagonists, antagonists, heroes, villains, happy, sad, and help tell the story.
